Sick Pay and Absence from Work: Evidence from Flu Exposure

The system of sick-pay is critical for balancing the economic and health costs infectious diseases. Surprisingly, most research on reforms does not rely variation in worker exposure to diseases when investigating absences from work. This paper studies effects work changes health-insurance coverage first three days sickness. We explore geographic prevalence diseases, primarily seasonal flu, provide need sickness insurance.
